About Me

A footloose soul with a severe case of wanderlust, a penchant for calculated risks, and a grand ambition to travel the world.

Hey there, I'm Xavior! I've recently returned to Singapore after living in Cambridge, UK for a few years. I'll be moving to Cambridge, Massachusetts in fall 2024. I'm an open-minded guy who'll never say no to an adventure and is always down to have fun. If you're around my area, I'm happy to hang out, show you my city, and go for a pint!

My current mission is to explore as much of the world as possible, and have as many new experiences as I can. Over the past 4 years, I went to 36 different countries and tried a good number of things for the first time -
journeying across England in the midst of a raging pandemic;
rock climbing and bouldering in the Peak District;
enduring blizzards on a recently erupted volcano in Iceland;
skiing, snowboarding, and getting lost in the French Alps;
chasing the traces of ancient civilisations in Egypt, Italy, and Greece;
starting couchsurfing and meeting the most insane people;
hitchhiking for two weeks from Paris to Amsterdam;
surfing at a Portuguese beach without knowing how to swim;
squeezing through narrow tunnels, waddling in rapid streams, and dangling across deep chasms in some Welsh caves;
interrailing across the Scandinavian countries in the dead of winter;
floating in the Dead Sea and venturing into Palestine;
witnessing the world's largest temple of Angkor Wat in Cambodia;
chasing a total solar eclipse in Vermont with a broken car;
making a round trip through the Scottish highlands and lochs;
and many more...

Come along for the ride if that's your vibe! Check out my Instagram @xc.docx if you want to see more (it's basically a travel blog at this point).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My favourite part about travelling solo is the chance encounters with people that lead to lasting bonds, and couchsurfing is one of the best ways to put myself out there and meet like-minded travellers. Immersing in the local experience while exchanging culture, history, and languages with friends made along the way makes the journeys all the more special.

Interests

I love the outdoors and will always be seeking new ways to explore nature - rock climbing, mountaineering, caving, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, surfing - you name it! My favourite thing to do is learning new skills and knowledge, so if you have any talents or facts to share, I'm all ears! I also have a bunch of nerdy interests like stargazing, watching anime and Marvel films, and playing video games.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Doing research in nuclear fusion and plasma physics in the hope of creating a miniature star on Earth, the holy grail of clean energy, and the solution to global warming, I guess.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can tell you all about the night sky, the planets, the stars, and the galaxies. Or I can put on my physicist hat and ramble endlessly about quantum mechanics and nuclear fusion. I also have an endless cache of fun facts and trivia about world geography and history. Or if you just want to hear about my crazy adventures, I can go on and on about them too.

I'd love to learn about your country, culture, history, and languages, and about you, the places you've been, and the sights you've seen. I'm also eager to learn any skills and knowledge you have to share.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I promise to be an entertaining company. If you ever come to my area, I'll be more than happy to reciprocate the kindness I've received.
